Masters Programmes
Master of Science in Petroleum Engineering
A master of science in petroleum engineering program will explore topics such as production operations, hydraulic fracturing, economics, oil recovery processes, natural gas engineering, and project management among many others.
The MSc. in Petroleum Engineering develops the students’ skills to appraise and select the appropriate technologies for the safe production of hydrocarbons, and provides hands-on experience using industry-standard simulation software in all aspects of petroleum engineering. The main objective is therefore to produce graduates with the requisite knowledge, skills and attitude to spearhead, support and sustain the development of the oil and gas industry.
Program type: Postgraduate program
Duration of study: 18 months
Master of Science in Petroleum Geology
A Master degree in Petroleum geology is exciting because one uses various types of data from wells, rock cores, well logs etc. that provide information about the rock and fluid properties, and 3D seismic images, all of which are used to develop 2D and 3D maps and models of the subsurface and the distribution of petroleum resources, and to calculate volumes of oil and natural gas that exist in different areas (petroleum reserves estimates). The overall objective of this programme is to enable its graduates to acquire in-depth knowledge in the major areas of petroleum geosciences and exploration.
Programme type: Postgraduate programme
Duration of study: 24 months
